One of the reasons why Nike approached Michael Jordan for his endorsement was because they were a struggling company who had started with only running shoes. This product line had pretty much run its course by 1984 and they were looking for a way to restyle their brand.
Jordan didn’t really like the idea initially because he was endorsing other products and he really didn’t like the Nike line. However, his agent helped him see the potential of having his own “Air Jordans” line that would get him more recognized and help Nike recover.
